Dr Pickering studied at Medicine at Leeds Medical School, having previously studied at Newcastle and Manchester Universities. Like all GPs in the practice, Dr Pickering is a trained specialist in General Practice (family medicine) with specialist qualifications in Legal Medicine, Sports Medicine and Occupational Medicine. He aims to provide excellent holistic care to patients whatever their medical condition.

He joined the practice in 2010 and is currently the Director for Education, Training for Affinity Care. He is a GP Trainer, on the Bradford Vocational Training Scheme (VTS), and supervises a number of GP registrars and Foundation Year  doctors. Since starting at the practice, he has taken the lead for Medical and Physician Associate students at Shipley and Westcliffe medical practices and holds appointment as an Honorary Senior Lecturer with the University of Leeds. He enjoys the great outdoors and is a keen cyclist, kayaker, open water Swimmer and hiker.

His usual working days are: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
